Fibre Broadband (FFTH)
FTTH or fibre broadband is the new fixed line Internet access solution for retail users. It allows multi Gbit speeds and is the best connectivity option for retail customers where it is available. The biggest drawback is that such connections are offered commercially as best effort connections without any guarantees or SLAs and during peak hours, the available bandwidth is heavily reduced, as the backbone network of the ISP faces congestion. Due to network congestion, real-time applications may experience high packet loss and limited bandwidth, causing delays on file transfers and data transmission. Using multiple FTTH connections from different ISPs with the comBOX Virtual Leased line services, the packet loss is mitigated resulting in stable network performance and lossless real time communications. Moreover, the QoS capabilities of comBOX VLL effectively manage the available bandwidth and allow the configuration of sophisticated traffic prioritisation policies.
